New sports facility (cycling, BMX/MTB, skateboarding and skating)
GROSSETO | ITALY
Detailed and Final Design, and health & safety services.
The development of bike parks and cycling tourism is well-established in Europe, particularly in Germany, the Netherlands, and France. In recent years, Italy has also seen growing interest and investment in this sector. The construction of a new multi-purpose sports facility in Grosseto, dedicated to cycling, BMX/MTB, skateboarding, and skating, fits into this broader context of sports infrastructure. The project aims to be one of the first of its kind in Italy, with the potential to spark a virtuous cycle promoting sustainable mobility through bicycle use.
The initiative responds to the need for a safe, traffic-free environment where people of all ages can engage in cycling and other recreational activities. As part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), the Municipality of Grosseto has entrusted Hydea with the design of the facility.
At the heart of the project is a 1-kilometre cycling track built to FCI and CONI standards, alongside a pump track for advanced riding and a skate park suitable for skateboarding, rollerblading, skating, and BMX. The facility will also include three support buildings: a bar and workshop, changing rooms for athletes, and a staff area with instructors’ changing rooms and an infirmary. The site will be completed with landscaped park areas, access roads, and parking facilities.
