Monumental complex of Santa Maria della Pietà
ROME | ITALY
Detailed and Final design and health & safety services of refurbishment, maintenance and eco-sustainable refunctionalisation of the existing public building structures.
The monumental complex of Santa Maria della Pietà, located in Rome’s XIV Municipality – Monte Mario, has been designated as a site of significant urban interest, incorporating modern buildings and specialised structures. Following its closure as a psychiatric hospital in 2000, the complex became the focus of an Integrated Urban Plan aimed at revitalising the area’s urban, social, and environmental fabric. The project, financed by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), includes the restoration and repurposing of the buildings, alongside the enhancement of the adjoining park.
The eco-sustainable redevelopment prioritises public spaces, with a focus on improving interior comfort, restoring façades, and upgrading technological, environmental, and energy efficiency systems. In addition, seismic resilience measures are being implemented to ensure the safety and durability of the structures
