The Urban Plan of the Metropolitan City of Florence included several interventions on main roads that are subject significant traffic flows.

Hydea, in a grouping with Smart Engineering, was awarded the tender for the technical and economic feasibility project to upgrade the Perfetti Ricasoli infrastructure corridor.

The designing will begin shortly, as part of the upgrading process on the road connecting Prato and Florence, and passing through the cities of Campi Bisenzio, Calenzano and Sesto Fiorentino.

The project will involve two interventions.

The first will allow heavy vehicles that are exiting from Prato Est tollgate and heading to the industrial area of Via Fratelli Cervi to avoid Viale Leonardo da Vinci.  They will use the roundabout on the SR325 in Prato instead, and a new bridge over the Bisenzio river will allow them to enter directly into the industrial area of Via Fratelli Cervi, without increasing traffic on Viale Leonardo Da Vinci.

The second envisages the adaptation of the intersection between Mezzana Perfetti-Ricasoli and Via di Pratignone, which cannot find sufficient outlet due to the ovoidal shape of the current roundabout. This causes long queues and frequent traffic jams, with the effect of traffic congestion at rush hour.
