Construction works have officially started on the Linear Park of Industrial Archaeology in Trieste. This ambitious project aims to transform a disused port railway area into a public linear park. It is one of the most significant urban renewal initiatives along the Italian coast, funded by Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
The project is part of the broader “Porto Vivo” master plan, which seeks to heal the divide created by the long-inaccessible port complex and to reconnect the city with its waterfront.
HYDEA developed the final and executive designs for this transformative project, which will return green spaces, bicycle and pedestrian paths, recreational and sports facilities, and new water features to the community — all with a sustainable vision aimed at reclaiming space from the area’s heavy industrial character.
The ceremony marking the symbolic start of construction was attended by representatives of the Minister of Culture’s Cabinet, highlighting the project’s strategic importance for Trieste and the surrounding region.
