With the on-going Integrated Solid Waste Management Project (ISWMP), sponsored by the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), Grenada has made remarkable improvements in the management and disposal of solid waste. After the completion of the new cell at Perseverance landfill, efforts are now focused on diverting waste fractions so to extend the landfill life time as much as possible.

With this in mind, this assignment to prepare a Commercial Composting Feasibility Study, awarded to HYDEA and to the Monza Park Agricultural School, is critical to remove the organic and green waste fractions from municipal and special waste as much as possible, so that this will greatly contribute to extend the duration of the newly completed disposal facility. Furthermore, the reduction of organic matter will improve dramatically the quality of the leachate to be treated.
