The disposal facility at Providenciales, in Turks and Caicos Islands, has long been affected by deep fires creating a huge nuisance and affecting negatively the near Wheeland Community.
To solve the issue at the dumpsite, HYDEA has successfully performed fire extinguishing trials in May 2023, and is now implementing a Fire Extinguishing Program at Providenciales Landfill.
In the next 3 months, starting from February 2024, our staff will be full-time on-site to train appointed personnel of the Environmental Health Department, Landfill Operator, and Fire and Rescue Brigade to be fully capable of continuing and completing the quenching activities, until the deep fires will be fully extinguished.
