HYDEA is organizing the 2nd Study Tour on Solid Waste Management Facilities in Italy, from the 5th to the 12nd November 2023.

The study tour aims at showing some best practices and the state of the art of waste treatment and disposal facilities and to visit Ecomondo Circular Economy Expo, the largest European Expo dealing with solid waste management equipment and technologies.

The programme is designed to assist Solid Waste Managers and relevant Stakeholders in solid waste management. It will be an excellent opportunity that will contribute to  improve waste management strategies.

Dr. Dimitri Abbado – Head of Circular Economy Department of HYDEA SpA

Dimitri Abbado graduated in Geological Sciences (Gas and Water Geochemistry) at the University of Florence in 1997, completed a MS in Geosciences at Penn State University (USA) in 2001, and a PhD in Geological Sciences at the University of Siena in 2010. He is a member of the Waste Working Group of Europengineers since its foundation and he acted as Delegate for Tuscany of the Italian Geological Society from 2006 to 2009. He has an in-depth experience in Project Management of MSWM Projects and has been Member of the Managing board of AISA Spa (Waste Management Company of Arezzo Province – Italy) in 2007 and 2008. Dimitri speaks fluently Italian and English and has working knowledge of French. He has worked internationally in more than 30 Countries and he is Director of the SWM & Circular Economy Department of HYDEA. He is Director of the BoD of HYDEA since 2021.

Gianni Cordaro – LDF gas management expert

Gianni Cordaro graduated with a MS in Civil Engineering from the University of Florence. He has extensive experience in landfill gas management including preparation of mathematical forecasting models for LDF gas production and use. His experience include: feasibility studies and design of integrated solutions for landfills and waste management with water-waste-energy nexus approach; design of municipal and industrial solid waste treatment plants; industrial symbiosis; industrial waste management plans, recycling solutions with a view to circular economy and technical-economic feasibility studies of plants; teacher and trainer on waste management and circular economy issues. He is author of publications in scientific journals on the management of landfill biogas and owner of patented solution of an automated plant for the collection of landfill gas.
