Conduction of site and archaeological studies, and development of a site management and master plan for Hili Archaeological Park in line with DCT’s vision.
Hili Archaeological Park (HAP), part of the Cultural Sites of Al Ain and the UAE’s only cultural World Heritage site, provides evidence of continuous human settlement in the desert since the Neolithic period. Excavations have revealed remains from the Bronze Age (Umm an-Nar culture) and Iron Age, dating back 5000 to 2500 years. However, the site has suffered significant deterioration due to harsh environmental conditions. Conservation trials and laboratory material testing carried out on samples collected from the site provided the basis for defining appropriate conservation approaches, leading to the elaboration of a comprehensive protection strategy encompassing both immediate conservation interventions and long-term sustainable measures to preserve and enhance the site, as well as its presentation to local and international visitors.
