JEDDAH | KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA

Assistance to the Historic Jeddah team with UNESCO file, heritage management, Al Balad studies, GIS layers, HIA for Masterplan, MoC training, permit screening, restoration and design guidelines.

Inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2014, Historic Jeddah – also known as Al Balad – is a prime example of Red Sea architectural tradition, with its tall wooden Roshan-adorned houses, coral stone buildings, souks, mosques, and vibrant public spaces. The site’s UNESCO status boosts awareness and supports both heritage preservation and tourism. This project supports the Jeddah Historic District (MoC) team in managing UNESCO requirements, ensuring
the site’s authenticity and integrity, and enhancing its ongoing conservation, interpretation, and value.
