Gello Social Housing Development
PRATO | ITALY
Final design, safety co-ordination, work supervision.
“Gello” social housing project is addressed to those subjects whose income is too high to qualify them for public housing allocations, and yet remains too low to be able to afford a suitable accommodation at the market price.
The projects has been developed by Abitare Toscana on a piece of land owned by the Municipality of Prato, and has been financed by Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Prato, the Tuscan Housing Fund and other investors, with a total investment of 10 million euros.
The intervention involved the construction of two low-rise buildings with 72 apartments in total, of 50-85 sqm NFA each.
The design was led by the principle of providing the residential units with high-quality finishes, while a special attention was devoted to landscaping of the outdoor spaces. Minimizing energy consumption was another crucial aspect of the project, therefore lighting, heating and air conditioning systems were designed to high energy efficiency standards.
