Strategic Study of the Cultural Industries
TUNISIA
Assessment of the current state of cultural industries from an economic, social and institutional perspective; identification of the cultural industries with the highest potential for development, and assessment of their contribution to GDP; identification of the main domains based on which a national strategy for the cultural industries can be formulated and implemented.
Cultural industries are increasingly recognised worldwide as key drivers of economic and social development, despite often relying on public or private funding.
In this context, Tunisia’s Ministry of Culture commissioned HYDEA, in partnership with Milan-based University Luigi Bocconi, to carry out a strategic study aimed at identifying the country’s cultural industries with the greatest potential for growth, particularly in terms of employment generation, export capacity, and attractiveness to foreign investment.
The study was conducted at a critical moment in Tunisia’s history, as the country, widely regarded as the birthplace of the Arab Spring, was navigating a complex transition toward full democracy, marked by political and institutional uncertainty.
