The expressions “Urban renewal”, “urban regeneration” or “urban redevelopment”, point out the recovery of urban areas by significantly improving the quality of life for the citizens who will use it.
Such an intervention implies not just the restoration or requalification of an area, but a real enhancement of the spaces from an environmental, social and economic point of view, all happening by reusing the existing structure instead of building new edifices. This practice avoids additional land’s consumption and is imprinted with eco-sustainability principles.
Urban regeneration addresses in particular suburban, run-down or disused areas, in order to return them to their communities by fostering their development rather than depriving them of their identities.
