Rescue archaeology | Definition

Rescue archaeology is an investigation activity that, as part of a project, aims to verify the possible presence of archaeological heritage and to ensure its preservation during the execution of the works.

In the preliminary phase, it requires historical and bibliographical research on the area subject to the intervention, and, in the subsequent phases, field surveys and investigations are to be carried out.
Furthermore, during the execution phase, all excavation and earthmoving activities are subject to archaeological supervision and assistance, to ensure the proper execution of the excavation.
