Renovation of Irrigation Systems
MOLDAVIA
Preliminary design and detailed design of the renovation works for 11 irrigation systems.
The project is financed by the Millennium Challenge Corporation, the U.S. foreign aid agency, established in 2004, which is helping lead the fight against global poverty.
The project’s aims to support the transition from subsistence agriculture to commercial agriculture in the marginalized areas of the country with the renovation of 11 irrigation systems which date back to the Soviet era.
The existing pumping stations along the Nistru and Prut rivers were upgraded by installing new electrical and mechanical equipment, replacing obsolete piping and putting in drip irrigation systems and low-pressure sprinklers.
