The housing development intends to increase the offer of medium-grade apartments in Tuscany, catering to a specific group of households whose income is too high to qualify them for social housing allocations, yet it remains too low to afford a suitable accommodation at market price.
This affordable housing project, which occupies a plot of land owned by the Municipality of Prato, is developed by Abitare Toscana with funds made available by the Foundation Cassa di Risparmio di Prato, the Tuscan Housing Fund and other investors, with a total investment of 10 million euros.
The intervention involves the construction of two low-rise buildings for an overall72 apartments, 50-85 sqm NFA each.
The design was guided by the principle of providing the residential units with high-quality finishes, while a special attention was devoted to landscaping of the outdoor spaces. Minimizing energy consumption was another crucial aspect of the project, meaning that lighting, heating and air conditioning systems were designed to high energy efficiency standards.
